Evening of Chamber Music to be presented at Delta State

The Department of Music at Delta State University will present a chamber concert on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center on the campus.

 
The program includes chamber repertoire for various combinations of soprano, flute, clarinet, and piano. The composers are John Corigliano, Joseph Horovitz, Libby Larsen, Franz Schubert, and Mark Snyder, assistant professor, Delta Music Institute at Delta State University). The varieties in the characters of the compositions will certainly be enjoyable and interesting. Some of the musical languages come from jazz and cowboy dances.
 
The guest artists are Susan Ruggiero, soprano and Danilo Mezzadri, flute.  Ruggiero has sung with numerous opera companies, such as the Natchez Festival opera, Mississippi Opera and the Kentucky Opera in addition to placing in several competitions.  Mezzadri is an international prizewinner flutist and an active performer as a soloist, chamber and orchestral player. He has toured throughout Europe and the Americas and recently recorded a CD featuring 21st Century music for flute and piano.
 
They will be joined by Delta State University music faculty, Andrea Cheeseman, clarinet and Kumiko Shimizu, piano.
