Students who participated in The Emperor’s New Clothes pose with the cast of the show, Cheryl Comans of Entergy Mississippi, and Laura Howell and Whitney Cummins of the Bologna Center.Over 1,500 elementary students from more than five different counties attended The Emperor’s New Clothes, a special free performance sponsored by Entergy and presented by New Stage Theatre’s Arts-in-Education statewide touring program on April 8.
Students traveled from counties including Tunica, Quitman, Washington and Sunflower to experience this special event. Children and adults thoroughly enjoyed this highly energetic and interactive performance. All audience members were able to participate in the production by providing sound effects to help tell the story. Several students were also chosen to perform with the actors on stage.
Students left the Bologna Center with smiles on their faces and great things to say about the performance. In an effort to ensure that each student receives an educational experience, teachers and families who attended the performance were provided with a comprehensive study guide for use before and after the performance.
The Bologna Performing Arts Center provides several opportunities throughout each school year for school groups and families to experience professional quality theatrical performances. The 2014-2015 School-Time Matinee Series will be announced in August of 2014.
