Following three years of planning and fund-raising, the Veterans Atrium in Jobe Hall received the donor recognition plaque, shaped like a tree.

The large tree-shaped plaque has leaves that bear the names of veterans, which include alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends of Delta State University who have served in any branch of the military.

It was the idea of Delta State Professor Emeritus of History Dr. James Robinson to turn the bleak atrium of Jobe Hall into a memorial to honor military veterans. Vicki Fioranelli, retired director of Delta State’s Alumni Affairs, assisted in promoting the transformation. Many others have contributed time and funds to decorate the Veterans Atrium

The Veterans Atrium and Jobe Hall will have a veterans’ exhibit and refreshments at Homecoming, November 7, at 10 a.m.

If you know of an alumnus, student, faculty or staff member of Delta State (living or deceased) who has served in any branch of the military, and would like to have his or her name to be added to the Veterans Tree, please contact the DSU Alumni/Foundation at (662) 846-4660.
