The Bologna Performing Arts Center is hosting a dance/tap workshop as part of the Juliet Kossman ArtsPass Series on Saturday, Feb. 7.

The workshop is for ages 5 to 8 and will be held 9 a.m. – 12 noon in the Bologna Performing Arts Center on the campus of Delta State University.

Participants in this workshop will work on discovering rhythms and will be encouraged to enjoy themselves and have fun with the dance form of Tapping.

The presenter of this workshop is Marion Weeks.  Weeks has been studying dance and visual arts from a very young age, and will be completing her bachelor’s of arts degree from Delta State University this spring.  She is also a registered dental hygienist.

She has had the opportunity to work with such dance companies as Philadelphia based Philadanco!;Ballet Met Columbus; Marlies Yearby, the choreographer of Rent on Broadway; Seattle’s LingoDance Theater; and Moving Arts Dance from San Francisco.  She served as children’s choreographer for both Ballet Met Columbus’ production of“Beauty and the Beast”; the Russian Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker”;  and during June of 2008, was the choreographer for the Janice Wyatt Mississippi Summer Arts Institute Broadway production of “Annie”.

Participants in this workshop will need to wear clothing suitable for dance movements.  Jazz pants or leotard and tights, or work-out clothes that are not too bulky would be suitable.  Also, each participant must have tap shoes.

Please contact the BPAC office if you do not have tap shoes.  We will need your shoe size to provide tap shoes for you.
