Beginning this December, Delta State University, through the Division of Graduate and Continuing Studies, will introduce intersession courses. Designed for students wanting to take courses to meet a goal of graduating earlier or for those students seeking to take a course that failed to fit their schedule, intersession classes can now help in meeting those varied needs.
Intercession courses provide an excellent opportunity to complete college-level classes in a focused, concentrated and intensive environment. These courses will meet during the weeks between the end of the fall semester and the start of the spring semester, while also being offered during the break between the spring semester and the summer semester. A student will be able to take up to two courses during an intersession period.
Scheduled to meet during the weeks of Dec. 27 – 30 and Jan. 3 – 6 in Broom Hall or the School of Nursing Building, intersession courses being offered include: Child and the Community (Social Work); Advanced Human Resources – Online (Management); Services Marketing (Marketing); Managing in a Global Environment – Online (Management/Economics); Special Topics in Marketing (Marketing); Statistics (Management); Behavioral Management (Special Education); Music in Western Culture – Online (Music); Personal Finance – Online (Family Economics and Management); Introduction to Literature (English); Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Training (Nursing); Special Topics in Criminal Justice (Criminal Justice) and Crisis Counseling (Counseling).
Courses will meet in either during the morning period, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., or during the afternoon period, 2 p.m. – 7 p.m. Alternative meeting dates and times may be considered. Dates and times for field/travel courses will be set to accommodate the needs of the course.
Tuition for a three-credit hour, undergraduate course will be $475, and a three-credit hour, graduate course will be $625. Students will be able to register for the intersession courses during the normal spring pre-registration period in November. Tuition for intersession courses will be a separate cost from regular spring tuition, however, intersession tuition can be paid in one payment or as a part of a student’s spring tuition management plan. Also, financial aid can be used by a student to pay for intersession courses.
