Delta State to offer travel based classes for the spring semester

Delta State University’s Graduate and Continuing Studies will offer travel based classes to Vicksburg, Natchez, Corinth and Turkey during the spring semester.

 
Vicksburg
 
The Vicksburg trip scheduled for Feb. 6 to 8, includes a visit to the Vicksburg Military Park and various sites in the city, which gives a fresh look at one of the Civil War’s decisive battles. Three hours graduate/undergraduate or 3.0 CEU credit are available.
 
Cost for graduate students is three credit hours tuition plus $175 materials fee, cost for undergraduate students is three credit hours tuition plus $175 materials fee, and cost for CEU credit is $325 and $350 for non credit. Fees include room, most meals and transportation.
 
Course offerings include Military Operations (HIS 444/HIS 544) Military Geography (GEO 443) and Civil War Nursing (NUR 686).
 
Instructors for this trip include Adam Lynde and Lizabeth Carlson, Delta State; Harry Laver, Southeastern Louisiana University and Dean Burchfield, Itawamba Community College.
 
 
Natchez
 
Join Graduate and Continuing Studies on a tour of Natchez March 6 to 8, with an additional stop in the historic city of Port Gibson, where we will tour historic Church Street and the Windsor Ruins. Once in Natchez, we will tour downtown Natchez, take in the mighty Mississippi from the view at the Briars, tour the unbelievable Natchez cemetery and visit four homes on a tour during the Natchez Pilgrimage.
 
Cost is $250 double occupancy. A private room is available for an additional fee.

Shiloh and Corinth
 
The Shiloh and Corinth trip, which gives you a fresh look at one of the civil war’s decisive battles, is scheduled for March 26th through 29th. Three hour graduate/undergraduate or 3.0 CEU credit are available.
 
Cost for graduate students is three credit hours tuition plus $75 materials fee, cost for undergraduate students is three credit hours tuition plus $75 materials fee, and cost for CEU credit is $325 and $275 for non-credit. Fees include room, most meals and transportation.

Delta State University Summer Trip to Turkey 2009
May 27-June 17 (Tour)
May 27- July 1 (for credit)

Delta State University Art Department faculty members Cetin Oguz and Duncan Baird are taking students on a summer trip to Turkey. During the 20 day trip, the group will travel to Western and Central parts of Turkey and take a four day cruise on the turquoise seas of the Mediterranean. Ephesus, Cappadocia, Hagi Sophia and Pergamum are a few sites that will be visited on this fabulous, authentic trip.

 
Dates include May 27 to June 17 (non- course credit) and May 27 to July 1 (3 to 6 hours college credit). Courses offered include painting, drawing, photography, history and art history.
Call for pricing. Cost includes round trip airfare, four-day Mediterranean cruise, three week stay in Istanbul, two weeks of travel by bus throughout central and western turkey with accommodations, including breakfast, dinner and all museum entrance fees.
 
Deadline to register is Feb. 27.
