SAINT GEORGE, HE SLAYED THE DRAGON
by Tom Douglas

The Delta State University Department of Art will serve as host to an exhibition of work by Tom Douglas, Feb. 23 – March 29 in the Wright Art Center Gallery on campus.

The Chair of the Art Department at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Douglas will show both paintings and sculptures inspired by art history.  Some, he says, are whimsical and hopefully playful.  “My constant identity is that of narrative storyteller, so much of the work which will be exhibited is commentary on the stories of others – Homer, Raphael, and Donatello – with some personal references thrown in.”

There will be a closing reception on Sunday, March 29, from 4-6 p.m. in the Wright Art Center Gallery.

The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

For more information, please call the Delta State Art Department at (662) 846-4720. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Friday, closed on weekends and holidays.
