A total of 180 of the most talented high school choir singers from across the state will gather on the campus of Delta State University, from Friday, Feb. 13 to Sunday, Feb 15, as Delta State hosts its annual choir festival.

These talented students were selected by audition to participate in the festival by members of the Delta State music faculty.

Dr. Daniel Bara, associate professor of music and director of choral activities at East Carolina University, will be the guest conductor.

Choirs under his direction have performed by invitation at state, regional and national conferences of the American Choral Directors Association and the Music Educators National Conference. Their first compact disc recording, “Greater Love,” was released internationally on the Gothic Label in fall 2007.

The choir will be accompanied by Dr. Kumiko Shimizu, assistant professor of piano at Delta State.

The three-day festival concludes with a performance on Sunday, Feb.15, at 2 p.m., in the Delta and Pine Land Theatre of the Bologna Performing Arts Center on campus.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call (662) 846-4115.
