Delta State to host annual Delta International Film and Video Festival

Last March, the second annual Delta International Film and Video Festival unspooled at the Bologna Performing Art Center’s Recital Hall on the campus of Delta State University.

We are proud to report that the 2007 DIFVF was an enormous success. Films from France, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Sweden were exhibited together with work by talented filmmakers from the US and Mississippi. Work by the best student filmmakers from around the country was also exhibited and cash prizes awarded to selected filmmakers. Entries were considered from all genres of film and video, including narrative, documentary, experimental, animation, and student.

The 2008 Delta International Film and Video Festival will be held Friday, April 11 through Sunday, April 13 in the Recital Hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center on the campus. For individual programs, screening times and to learn more about the festival visit our website at www.difvf.com.

This year we will screen over twenty films from Mississippi, the United States and abroad, including South Africa, Canada, Australia, Austria, Turkey, and the United Kingdom and feature work by the students in DSU’s film and video program.

The 2008 Delta International Film and Video Festival showcases the work of independent film and video artists. Organizers are looking for work that exhibits exceptional artistry, insight, and innovation in all categories and genres, and welcome submissions from established and emerging artists working in the United States and internationally. They are also seeking work made by students currently enrolled in college or university, as well as work by local filmmakers and video artists. Our call for entries for the 2009 festival will begin in the fall.

The festival is free and open to the public. For additional information, please call Robyn Moore, Festival Director and Assistant Professor of Art at Delta State at (662) 846-4731.
