Delta State to hold auditions for Cleveland Community Elementary Choir

By August 21, 2009General

Once again the Arts Education Department of the Bologna Performing Arts Center (BPAC) invites singers from our area schools to audition for the Cleveland Community Elementary Choir.

Auditions for potential new members will be held August 24-28, and August 31-Sept.4, from 3-5 p.m. at the BPAC.

The audition for a position in the choir will be very simple.  The children will be asked to sing “My Country Tis of Thee,” and “Happy Birthday,” and to sing three pitch memory phrases.

To be a true community choir we need to have students from every Cleveland school.

Information about the program was given to each of the elementary music teachers in Cleveland to distribute to interested children.

You can also come by the BPAC for program information and audition packet.

This after-school choir will build on the skills that students have acquired in general music classes, and will provide opportunities for them to learn more about choral singing technique and reading music. These music skills will last a lifetime, provide further opportunities for performance, and may even help obtain college scholarships someday.

To schedule an audition or for more information, please contact Tennie Lester at (662) 846-4844 or e-mail tlester@deltastate.edu.
