James Forbes (center), a three-year-old student at Delta State University’s Child Development Center, prepares to hurl a bean bag toward a target, as Delta State health, physical education and recreation majors Matthew Tassin (at left), of Grenada, and Michael Ward (at right), of Drew, watch.

Tassin and Ward are enrolled in a class entitled Practium in Elementary Physical Education. As a part of the class, students design developmentally suitable physical activities for the kids enrolled in the Delta State Child Development Center. The class also helps the college students develop an understanding of children and their skill development. The kids of the Child Development Center are educated on the importance of physical activity.
