Delta State presents Eighth Annual International Business Symposium

Delta State University and the College of Business will present the Eighth Annual International Business Symposium, a two-day event on Thursday, April 4th and Friday, April 5th. This year’s theme is “Opportunities Await.”

The conference opens with a reception at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by the Keynote Address at 6:00 p.m.   Friday’s session will feature the guest speakers from 9:00 a.m. until Noon.  All events will be held in the Jacob Conference Center in Ewing Hall on the campus of Delta State University.

The Keynote Address will be delivered by Delta State alumnus and Chief Operating Officer of UPS, David Abney, a 1976 graduate, who sponsors the annual event with his wife, Sherry. He is always delighted to return to the Mississippi Delta to share with students and members of the Cleveland community strategies critical for success in today’s highly competitive world of international business.

Joining Abney as guest presenters are DSU alumni Larry Shores and Angela J. Grayson.

William L. “Larry” Shores, CPA is president and majority shareholder of Shores, Tagman, Butler & Company, PA. He has been with the firm since 1982. Larry is responsible for the overall operation of the firm. He works with clients in 39 states and several other countries. The majority of his clients are property & casualty insurance enterprises including admitted carriers and a variety of alternative risk mechanisms including captive insurance companies, self insurance funds, and intergovernmental risk pools. Larry received a B.B.A. with a major in accounting from Delta State in 1978.

Angela J. Grayson joined DuPont in 2008 and is currently Senior Counsel, Intellectual Property Litigation. Prior to joining DuPont, Grayson had previous experience as in-house patent counsel for two Fortune 500 companies, as well as prior experience in the examining corps for the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office.  She received a B.S. in chemistry from Delta State, M.S. in physical chemistry and Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi.
