Delta State History Department hosts special event

The Delta State History Department played host to an event coordinated by Professor of History Dr. James Robinson to honor three women who have played a significant role at Delta State.

 
Mary Lou Cash served in Roberts Library from 1964 to 1985. Her husband, the late Dr. William Cash was a history professor as well as chair of the History Department during the years of 1962 until his retirement in 1994.
 
Dr. Martha Biles, professor emeritus of history, taught history at Delta State University from 1967-1992.
 
Janice Arnold, secretary for the History Department, is retiring at the end of this academic school year. She has served as secretary for the department for ten years. She also served in Institutional Research, Alumni & Foundation and Student Affairs.
 
There was astanding-room-only crowd in the lobby of Jobe Hall as Interim Chair and Assistant Professor of History Dr. Adam Lynde, Delta State President Dr. John Hilpert, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Ann Lotven, and Dr. James Robinson spoke in respect of the honorees. Arnold, Biles and Cash were presented gifts. Plaques honoring each of the three were displayed and hung in prominent positions in Jobe Hall, home to the History Department.

The event was held Wednesday, April 8.
