Delta State announces 5th annual International Business Symposium

Delta State University and the College of Business will be presenting the 5th annual International Business Symposium Friday, April 16, from 9 a.m. to noon in Jobe Hall Auditorium on the campus.

 
Delta State alumni and Chief Operating Officer of UPS David Abney, a 1976 graduate, who sponsors the event is excited to return to the Mississippi Delta and share his experiences with the students of Delta State University and members of the Cleveland community. 
 
Joining Abney on the discussion panel are fellow Mississippi natives John E. Crawford, Kieu-Anh Tran, and John A. James.
 
Crawford, owner of Crawford’s Inc. in Starkville, a furniture retail and import/export business, is a 1978 graduate of Delta State University and a Houston native.
 
Tran, a Pass Christian native, is a 1996 graduate of Mississippi State University and co-owner of Q Solutions, an Atlanta, Ga., Civil/Environmental Engineering firm specializing in providing water and wastewater services throughout the southeast region. 
 
James, a Starkville native and a 1964 graduate of Mississippi Valley State University, is Chairman, CEO, and founder of James Group International, a group of companies in Detroit, Mich., offering international supply chain services. 
 
Both Abney and Crawford serve on the Delta State University Foundation Board of Directors.
 
The theme of this year’s event is “Small Business, Big Ideas” and is aimed at global issues and opportunities affecting small and medium sized businesses. 
 
All students and community members are invited to attend.
