Delta State Alumni Association Homecoming Preview Now Available

The Delta State Alumni Association 2012 Homecoming Preview is now available. This year’s publication contains all the information fans need for Delta State Homecoming including a schedule of events, information on the Alumni Awards winners, an article on the prestigious Golden Circle as well as the official Alma Mater. The publication is another benefit for both annual and life members of the Alumni Association. Over 8,000 copies were printed and mailed to dues-paying members of the Association and annual fund donors. Additional copies will be available at various businesses around Cleveland, MS and the Hugh Ellis Walker Alumni Foundation House.

Homecoming 2012 is packed full of events for all ages. The festivities begin Friday with the Alumni Board of Directors Meeting at the Alumni House from 11:30 to 2:00. Friday night, the Alumni Association will host the Alumni Awards and Gala Dinner at Walter Sillers Coliseum at 7 p.m. Prior to the dinner, there will be a Social from 6 to 7 also at Walter Sillers Coliseum. At the Dinner, the Alumni Awards recipients will be recognized, and the Class of 1962 will be inducted into the Golden Circle, a constituency group of the Association that consists of alumni who graduated 50 years or more ago.

On Saturday, Homecoming registration is from 8 to 11 a.m. in the H.L. Nowell Union. The Athletic Alumni will have a meeting from 10 to 11 a.m. in Room 302 of the H.L. Nowell Union. The Veterans Exhibit will be open at 10 a.m., and the ceremony for the Veterans Atrium will begin at 11 a.m. The Delta Music Institute will hold an open house from 9 to 11 a.m. There will be a special lunch at the Young-Mauldin Dining Hall, and the Wright Art Gallery will be open from 2 to 4 p.m.

Tailgating begins at Statesmen Park at noon with performances by the Delta State Cheerleaders and the “Pride of the Delta” marching band. Kickoff for the Delta State vs. University of West Alabama football game is at 4 p.m.

Other activities include: the Class of 1962 50-year reunion, the Kappa Delta Sorority 50th Anniversary, and the Delta Delta Delta Sorority 50th Anniversary. The Student Government Association will recognize alumni during halftime of the football game. Homecoming T-shirts will be on sale in the H.L. Nowell Union, and the Jimmy R. Williams Bookstore will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Members of the Alumni Association receive a 10 percent discount.
