The Delta State Delta Center for Culture and Learning recently introduced a geography class from Sam Houston State University to the Delta’s cultural heritage.  This is the seventh year in a row that Dr. John Strait has brought his class to the Delta.  Their week-long trip begins in Memphis and visits Clarksdale, Cleveland, Indianola, Greenwood and Greenville.  This year they also visited the Emmett Till Center in Glendora.  The Delta Center also annually hires Dr. Strait to present a lecture on the Great Migration to its NEH workshops, so he visits the Delta several times each year.  The class is pictured in front of artist Sharon McConnell’s collection of life-masked titled A Cast of Blues.  The collection is on display in Ewing Hall on the DSU campus, outside the Delta Center’s offices.
