By February 16, 2015Uncategorized

Due to icy weather conditions, and in the interest of safety and an abundance of caution, Delta State University will close today (Monday, February 16th) at 3:00 p.m.  All classes for the remainder of the day (including night classes) are cancelled, and the university will be closed for business operations.

The University plans to re-open its business operations at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.  Class schedules will resume on Tuesday at 10:50 a.m.  However, university officials will continue to monitor the status of road conditions and will issue an update by 8:00 a.m. tomorrow (Tuesday) regarding Tuesday’s schedule.

Campus dining will operate under normal hours unless noted otherwise.

Decisions regarding scheduled athletic events will be posted on the Delta State Athletics website (www.gostatesmen.com) and social media outlets.

For the status of other scheduled university events, contact the event sponsor.

Updates and notifications of campus status will be available at www.deltastate.edu, the university’s Facebook page (facebook.com/deltastateuniversity), Twitter account (@deltastate), and through the Okra Alert Emergency System.  Or, you can call for an update at 662-846-4155.

As always, Delta State University students, faculty, and staff should exercise caution and their best judgment regarding the safety of their own travel based on their local conditions. Students and employees who commute to campus should check their local weather and make the decision to travel accordingly. Students who are unable to travel to campus due to hazardous travel conditions will not be penalized for their absence.
