BPAC Announces 20th Anniversary Season

Opening the BPAC’s new season on September 11 is “An Evening with Clint Black,” sponsored by Planters Bank.

The Bologna Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce its 20th Anniversary Season.

The 2014-2015 lineup features three nationally touring Broadway productions. On Nov. 11, Broadway’s feel-amazing musical comedy smash Sister Act, featuring music by 8-time Oscar winner Alan Menken, will be shown. Cole Porter’s comedy Anything Goes, winner of three 2011 Tony Awards including Best Revival and Choreography, comes to the center on Jan. 27. The Tony Award-winning Million Dollar Quartet featuring the hits of rock ‘n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins will close the season on April 28 with a performance sponsored by Guaranty Bank. A stage adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s literary classic, The Great Gatsby will be offered on Feb. 26 for theater lovers.

For music fans, a full-band concert by prolific singer-songwriter and country legend Clint Black will kick-off the new season on Sept. 11 with a do-not-miss performance. A songwriter’s showcase “The Heart Behind the Music” featuring Kim Carnes (“Bette Davis Eyes”), Deana Carter (“Strawberry Wine”), John Ford Coley (“I’d Really Like To See You Tonight”), Collin Raye (“Love, Me”) and special guest Greg Barnhill (“House of Love”) is also making a stop at the Bologna Center on March 24.

The new season also includes several family-friendly performances. Representing a bold new direction in theatrical entertainment is Circus Electronica, a blend of electronic music and the most awe-inspiring traditions of the circus scheduled for Oct. 7. Rudolph soars off the screen and onto the stage for a holiday performance in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, The Musical on Dec. 9. The most beloved family show in the world, Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre, will bring a unique blend of comedy, world-champion juggling and the extraordinary talents of more than 30 performing pets to the stage on Feb. 5. A School-Time Matinee Series consisting of six shows geared at grades pre-K to 12 is also planned for next year.

“We are proud to present our 20th Anniversary Season to the Mississippi Delta,” said Laura Howell, Executive Director. “Our Programming Committee worked hard to choose an exciting variety of programs that would appeal to all of our patrons.”
