The Bologna Performing Arts Center presents “A Mississippi Delta Holiday” this Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The program features seasonal favorites from various performing groups from across the Delta region.
Singer/songwriter Liz Davis will be headlining the program. Davis shined a spotlight on Mississippi as a Top 20 contestant and a member of country superstar Blake Shelton’s team on season 3 of NBC’s hit TV show The Voice. Davis will entertain the crowd with holiday classics and her original music.
The Buford family of Glendora has long been a part of many Delta families’ holiday traditions. They will be returning to the Bologna’s stage to share their family harmony and perform some of their favorite holiday tunes, from country to classic. The Generations from Indianola, an all-male quartet, have been together for over 10 years performing “doo-wop” favorites from the ‘50s and ‘60s. The Double Quick Angel Choir, a group comprised of Double Quick, Krystal, and Church’s employees, will share their special singing talents with the audience. The B.B. King Museum’s youth All Star Choir will also perform, and Delta State President William N. LaForge will also make a special musical appearance.
Hot cocoa and cookies will be available for all theater patrons after the performance. Santa Claus will be making a special visit from the North Pole for pictures in front of the Christmas tree.
Before and after “A Mississippi Delta Holiday,” the Delta Magazine Gift Collection will set up a pop-up holiday gift shop in the Bologna Center lobby. From 1-2 p.m. and 4-5 p.m., patrons will be able to shop for festive, fun and local gifts, including the new coffee table and cookbook, A Delta Magazine Christmas. Grammy award-winning songwriter Tricia Walker will also have copies of her holiday CD Upon A Christmas Eve available.
There will be lots of holiday and family fun this Sunday at the Bologna Center! For tickets, call (662) 846-4626 or go online to www.bolognapac.com. “A Mississippi Delta Holiday” is produced by DSU’s Delta Music Institute.
