Senior Recital by Ethan Baker Set for Oct. 29

The Delta State University Department of Music will present Ethan Baker in his senior saxophone recital at 1:40 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020, in the recital hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center.

Physical attendance is limited to invitation-only; however, the event will also be available for viewing via livestreams on the department’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Baker is a senior saxophone education/performance major from Senatobia, Miss. He studies with DSU’s Associate Professor of Music Dr. Bret Pimentel.

Baker transferred from Northwest Mississippi Community College, where he studied under Jennifer Whitehead. At NWCC, he graduated with highest honors and was a member of the Hall of Fame.

Since entering DSU in 2018, he has been involved with the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Saxophone Quartet/Trio and Flute Ensemble.

Baker has performed in the Honors Recital, placed honorable mention in the Music Teacher National Association regional competition with the DSU Saxophone Quartet and placed second in the DSU Chamber Competition as a saxophone and euphonium duet.

A member of the  President’s List for his entire collegiate career, Baker is also a member of the North American Saxophone Association, National Association for Music Education, Phi Theta Kappa Honor’s Society and Pi Kappa Lambda Honor’s Society.

Baker will be performing compositions by Jean-Baptiste Singelée, Ida Gotkovsky, Anthony O’Toole, Anthony R. Green, Robert Muczynski, Walter Hartley, Giacomo Puccini, and Ralph Hermann.
