Trombone Shorty Headlines BPAC at Delta State

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will perform live in concert Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7:30 PM at the Bologna Performing Arts Center (BPAC) at Delta State University. The concert is locally sponsored by the International Conference on the Blues. Tickets start at $40 and are on sale now at the BPAC Ticket Office.

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue blend rock riffs and horn blasts with the groove of a New Orleans Street parade. In the last five years, the seven-piece band has backed Macklemore and Madonna at the Grammys; opened for Foo Fighters, Daryl Hall & John Oates, and Red Hot Chili Peppers; and inherited the annual closing set at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest.

New Orleans bandleader Troy Andrews was raised in one of the city’s most musical families. Andrews got his stage name when he picked up his instrument at age four. By age eight, he led his own band in parades, halls and even bars. In his teens, Andrews played shows abroad with the Neville Brothers. Fresh out of high school, he joined Lenny Kravitz’s band. Trombone Shorty’s albums include Parking Lot Symphony from 2017 and Say That to This in 2013, among others.

Prior to the Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue concert, weather permitting, there will be a picnic-style dinner in the Mathews-Sanders Sculpture Garden located in front of the BPAC. Live music will be provided by Betzenzo. Also, Levee Break Grill will have its food truck on-site for dinner purchases. Dinner in the garden will last from 5:30-7 PM, and the concert begins in the BPAC at 7:30 PM.

Tickets to see Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue are on sale now at www.bolognapac.com or at the BPAC Ticket Office at 662.846.4626. Discounts are available for groups.
