Fireside Chat – May 29, 2018 – Orientation

Joining President LaForge is China Lewis, a senior, elementary education major and Assistant Student Director of the orientation program for new students.

The university offers an extensive orientation program each summer for new students enrolling for the fall semester. Three sessions will be offered in June and July, and there are sessions for both incoming freshmen as well as transfer students. The programs provide information on housing, academics, and student life, as well as entertainment activities that provide an opportunity for new students to meet the DSU Family, including current Delta State students as well as other new students. Students also have the opportunity to meet with academic advisors to create their class schedule for the upcoming semester.

Delta State also offers a number of sessions for parents of first-time students. Parents are encouraged to attend the same session as their student, and the sessions include information on meal plans, housing options for students, and many other topics.

In other news on campus, today marks the start of Summer I session. Registration will close tomorrow, Wednesday, May 30. If you’re thinking about taking a summer course, register before the deadline. And, there’s an opportunity to take classes during the Summer II session that begins July 2. The deadline for Summer II registration is Tuesday, July 3.

We kicked off our full slate of Summer camps off last week with Okra Kids Camp. If you’re interested in any of our summer camps, visit deltastate.edu/summercamps for a complete list of the opportunities.
