Test of Okra Alert system today (Friday, Oct. 20)

Delta State University Police will send out a test of the Okra Alert text messaging and email system today as part of “The Great Central U.S. ShakeOut,” the region’s largest earthquake drill.

The email will read as follows: “OKRAlert: TEST ONLY. The Great Central US ShakeOut is an earthquake preparedness and awareness program. Please visit www.shakeout.org for information on preparing for an earthquake on campus. Delta State University is in an area where an earthquake can occur. This is a TEST ONLY of the Delta State University Emergency Notification System. TEST ONLY OKRAlert.”

Anyone who has not registered his or her cell phone number for emergency text alerts is encouraged to do so by completing the following steps:
1.     Login to your “My DSU” account:
2.     Choose the “Personal Information” section and the “Enroll in Okra Alert” option.
3.     Add your cell phone number (with area code).
