In a continuing effort to develop regular live music opportunities in the area, the Cleveland-Bolivar County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with students in the Delta Music Institute entertainment industry studies program at Delta State University, have launched a “Wired For Sound” 12-week series of live music events.
For 12 consecutive weeks, local venues will will feature local talent performing a well-known repertoire of popular music, plus original songs in several acoustic-based genres, including Americana, blues, country, folk, R&B, and singer/songwriter.
The DMI performers will be scheduled on a rotating basis in the early evening or midday hours for the enjoyment of local patrons and visitors of the Delta. Participating restaurants include Mississippi Grounds, The Warehouse, Crawdad’s, Airport Grocery and Hey Joe’s.
The series is funded by a partnership between Chamber member venues and the Chamber itself, and through proceeds from the Chamber’s Restaurant Week.
This week’s live music offerings include:
*Feb. 1 — Kacee Russell —11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Mississippi Grounds
*Feb. 2 — Spencer Day — 6-8:00 p.m. at Airport Grocery
*Feb. 3 —Kailey Mathis — 6-8:00 p.m. at The Warehouse
Musicians scheduled to be part of the initial “Wired For Sounds” series include: Carrie Lynn Stanford (singer/songwriter, Americana/folk), Brennan Barham (singer/songwriter), Jessica Faith (singer/songwriter, Americana, pop), Ty Nash (R&B), Long Time Coming (country/Americana/folk trio), Kailey Mathis (singer/songwriter), Zach Dickerson (guitar), Brittany McGee (singer/songwriter, country, Gospel), Landen Knowles (singer/songwriter, Americana, alternative rock), Kacee Russell (singer/songwriter) and Spencer Day (singer/songwriter, country).
