Janet Parker represented Delta State in the Train-the-Trainer sessions for LETRS, a literacy foundational skills and research-based approach, to be used in early literacy courses.
As Mississippi continues to strive to develop the literacy skills of all students, efforts are underway to redesign teacher preparation courses in early literacy throughout the state. In support of this endeavor, a professional learning opportunity was provided by the Barksdale Reading Institute, the Center for Excellence in Literacy Instruction, and Voyager Sopris Learning. Professors from most Mississippi universities and colleges attended the session at the Insight Park facility on the University of Mississippi campus.
