BPAC kicks off 21st season

The supergroup The Time Jumpers will play at the Bologna Performing Arts Center Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

For 21 years now, the Bologna Performing Arts Center has been presenting the best of arts and entertainment on the campus of Delta State University. The Main Stage season opens Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. with a performance by The Time Jumpers, featuring Vince Gill, Kenny Sears and “Ranger Doug” Green.

The Time Jumpers is a multi-Grammy nominated supergroup of 10 musicians based in Nashville who have made major contributions to the richness and vigor of country music. The performance is locally sponsored by the Bolivar Medical Center.

Upcoming Main Stage performances include concerts by Motown legends The Four Tops; the 17-piece big band Davis and Johnson & the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra; and multi-platinum country music artist Sara Evans. Three tours of Broadway musicals are planned for 2016: “Annie,” “Mamma Mia!” and “Flashdance the Musical.” There will also be a family-friendly holiday program this winter, “A Very Electric Christmas,” and a contemporary dance performance by L.A.-based company BODYTRAFFIC next spring.

The BPAC also presents a School-Time Matinee Series throughout each school year, featuring hour-long productions targeted at students in grades preK-12. The first matinee is The B.F.G. (Big Friendly Giant) scheduled for Oct. 14 at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
