Brass Ensemble to perform concert

Delta State Low Brass Ensemble, pictured here, and the Okra Rangers Brass Quintet will be featured in An Evening of Brass Ensemble Music at 7:30 p.m. April 14 in the Recital Hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center.

The Delta State University Department of Music presents An Evening of Brass Ensemble Music at 7:30 p.m. April 14 in the Recital Hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center.

The program will feature the Delta State Low Brass Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Douglas Mark, associate professor of music. Members of the ensemble include: Daniel Herron, junior bachelor of arts trombone major; Bethany Grant, junior music education trombone major; Joshua Mims, junior music education trombone major; Elijah Davison, freshman music education euphonium major; Blake Phillips, junior music education euphonium major; Joshua Rushing, senior music education euphonium major; Michael Sparks, junior music performance euphonium major; BJ Daniel, junior music education tuba major; and Patrick Scroggins, junior bachelor of arts tuba major.

The Okra Rangers Brass Quintet will also perform on the concert program. Quintet members include: Juan Aldana, junior business major on trumpet; Hannah Simpson, junior music education major on trumpet, Pam Bellamy, junior math major on horn; Daniel Herron on trombone; and Patrick Scroggins on tuba.

Works will be performed by Stolzer, Coleman, Palestrina, Ravel, Debussy, Ewald, Cheetham and Rosenthal.
