The Delta State University Staff Council recently honored Brian Sherwood, HVAC technician, as the February 2015 Employee of the Month.

“I started working at Delta State about five years ago in the carpentry department, and since then I’ve moved to the HVAC department, where I have the privilege of working with a great group of guys and my awesome supervisor Mike Little,” said Sherwood.

Sherwood is currently attending night school for heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

He and his wife Jackie have three children — Ashton, Zoe and Maleah — and they love spending time outdoors. Sherwood is also a musician and songwriter. His band is currently recording its second CD at the Delta Music Institute on campus.

“I am very thankful for my job and my Delta State University family. I’m also very excited about what the future holds for me at Delta State,” he said.

Employee of the Month distinction is given to a staff member who has provided service at Delta State that is considered over and beyond those duties outlined in his or her job description. Nominations are submitted by colleagues on campus.

Each winner receives a plaque, monetary award, WalMart gift card from the Student Government Association, an engraved insulated coffee mug, a free parking decal courtesy of the Campus Police Department, a box of treats from The Sweetery, a parking spot of their choice, marquee announcement and website recognition.
