Rushing offers senior recital

Rushing will present his senior recital on April 2.

The Delta State University Department of Music presents Joshua Mathew Rushing in his senior music recital April 2 at 1:40 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center.

Rushing, a music education major, is the son of John and Karen Rushing of Saucier, Miss. He is a euphonium student under Dr. Douglas Mark, associate professor of music. Rushing transferred to Delta State from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and since coming to Delta State, he has performed with the DSU Wind Ensemble, the DSU Symphonic Band, the Pride of the Delta Marching Band, the DSU Pep Band, the DSU Low Brass Ensemble, the Delta Singers and the African Community Drumming Experience. He is an active member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

Rushing will be performing works by Franz Shubert, Kevin McKee and Walter Ross and will be accompanied by Dr. Kumiko Shimizu, faculty collaborative pianist and associate professor of music. The recital is free and open to the public.
