Phi Kappa Phi to receive Little Free Library

Delta State's chapter of Phi Kappa Phi was awarded a Little Free Library today for its participation in the society’s annual Book Drive Competition.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi — the nation’s oldest and most selective all discipline honor society — today awarded a Little Free Library to the Delta State University chapter for its participation in the society’s annual Book Drive Competition.

The Little Free Library is a freestanding box where anyone may donate and borrow books in an effort to promote literacy throughout communities. In addition to the Little Free Library, the chapter will receive $150 to cover the design cost of personalizing the library.

The competition, held between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31, 2014, saw participation from Phi Kappa Phi chapters across the nation with a total of more than 700 donated books. The chapters were tasked with collecting as many books as possible to donate to an organization of their choice.

The society’s student advisory board, the Council of Students, developed and managed the three-month event. To learn more about the annual competition, visit www.PhiKappaPhi.org/BookDrive.
