Local students visit Berenstain Bears at BPAC

"The Berenstain Bears: Family Matters" brought the BPAC stage to life Tuesday.

The Bologna Performing Arts Center was visited by the popular children characters the Berenstain Bears on Tuesday for the musical performance “The Berenstain Bears: Family Matters.”

Over 2,100 students, educators and families filled the theater for the show created  by Jan and Stan Berenstain. Students hailed from several surrounding counties, including Bolivar, Coahoma, East Tallahatchie, Grenada, Leflore, Quitman and Sunflower.

This BPAC School-Time Matinee performance of the Berenstain Bears was made possible by the Monsanto Company.

The Bologna Center will offer two more School-Time Matinees this season: “The Great Gatsby” and “The Adventures of Harold and the Purple Crayon.” school mat

“The Great Gatsby ” performance, scheduled for Feb. 26 at 10 a.m., is a full-length production of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel. This production is recommended for high school students.

“The Adventures of Harold and the Purple Crayon” comes to the stage March 5 at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. The show is recommenced for pre-schoolers through 3rd graders.
