Performing pets coming to Bologna Center

Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre, Gregory Popovich and his performing pets, will deilight the BPAC crowd Feb. 5 at 7 p.m.

The world famous Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre, Gregory Popovich and his performing pets, are coming to the Bologna Center for Performing Arts one night only on Feb. 5 at 7 p.m.

The show is a family-oriented blend of the unique comedy and juggling skills of Popovich and the extraordinary talents of his brilliant pets. The pets love to show off on stage, performing a variety of stunts and skits. Audiences are delighted by this extravaganza of European-style clowning, amazing juggling and balancing acts, and of course, his talented pets.

Popovich and his cast of jugglers and clowns will be joined by over 30 pets, including house cats and dogs rescued from animal shelters. Also making appearances are geese, white doves and parrots.

“I have actually nicknamed my show ‘A Second Chance’ because that is what my cats and dogs have been given — a second chance of life,” said Popovich. “The main idea of my show and of this tour is to raise awareness in our society about homeless pets.”

Throughout the performance, the audience will be able to witness acts such as the “Dog Classroom” and “Animal Train.”

“Each animal has a special quirky thing they naturally like to do,” said Popovich. “I figure out what this trick or talent is, and then I just encourage them to do it in my show. When my pets are performing they are showing off their favorite tricks.”

The Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre has a rich performance history, presenting thousands of shows in more than 20 countries, including a multi-year run at the Planet Hollywood Resort/Casino in Las Vegas.

Popovich, a Russian native and former star of the Moscow Circus, has won numerous circus competitions and awards. He has published two books, “You CAN Train Your Cat” and “Doggy Gone Good,” as well as released an independent film in 2014 which won the Audience Choice Award at the 17th annual Dances With Films Festival in Los Angeles.

Tickets for the show are $20-25, and special rates are available for groups of 10 or more. Children must be ages three and up to attend the production. For more information, call the ticket office at 662-846-4626 or go online, http://bolognapac.com/events-listing/popovich.
