The Delta State University National Alumni Association recently traveled to Gulfport for the annual Gulf Coast Alumni Chapter Event. This year’s gathering was held at Bayou Bluff Tennis Club.

Jeffrey Farris, director of alumni affairs, gave a university update and read a letter from President William N. LaForge who could not be in attendance because of his travel schedule. Chief Development Officer Gary Bouse, Assistant Alumni Director Jordan Thomas, Director of Career Services Davlon Miller and Admissions Recruiter Katelyn Hulett were also in attendance.

The Gulf Coast Alumni Chapter awarded Dustin McKittrick the Gulf Coast Alumni Scholarship. The chapter has been raising money for scholarships to be awarded to area students who will attend Delta State through silent auctions and sponsorships. The chapter hopes to award more scholarships in the future.

“Raising scholarship dollars for local students is a top priority for our chapter,” said Brett Walker, chapter president. “We plan to continue to grow our chapter and raise more scholarship dollars for Delta State students in our area.”
