Woodwind Chamber Ensemble to perform

The Delta State Flute Ensemble and Saxophone Quartet will perform in the BPAC on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

The Delta State Department of Music will present the Woodwind Chamber Ensembles Concert on April 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Bologna Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. The Flute Ensemble and Saxophone Quartet will be featured.

Delta State’s Flute Ensemble, under the direction of Associate Professor of Music Dr. Shelley Collins, will be joined by Josh Armstrong, assistant professor of Percussion. Members of the ensemble include Lindsey Belton, Amanda Corkran and Alex Corkran of Olive Branch, Elizabeth Long of Burnsville, Stephanie Peck of Southaven and Sayre Weast of Cleveland. The group will perform a concerto by the French baroque composer Boismortier, the Native-American-inspired work “Echoes of the Wind” and an arrangement of “Simple Gifts.”

The Saxophone Quartet, under the direction of Assistant Professor of Woodwinds Dr. Bret Pimentel, will perform works by Antonín Dvořák, Rusty Dedrick and Faustis and Maurice Jeanjean. Members of the ensemble are Rory Young of Corinth, Colby Kee of Southaven, Kevin Sherman of Ellisville and Sara Crider of Purvis.
