The Fielding Wright Art Center at Delta State will open a new exhibition on Sept. 29 with a reception for the participating artists from 2 – 4 p.m.  The university and community are invited to attend and view the recent work of artists Tom Lee, professor of Art at Memphis College of Art (MCA); Sheri Fleck Rieth, associate professor of Art at the University of Mississippi; and Herb Rieth, assistant professor of Fine Art at Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville, Tenn.

The artists have shown work at the Wright Art Gallery in separate exhibitions in the past. For this exhibit, their art will be presented together in an interesting juxtaposition of concepts and mediums.

Lee, who has taught sculpture since 1989 at MCA, has had many solo and group exhibitions in the U. S., as well as having received Individual Artists’ Grants from both Mississippi Arts Commission and the Tennessee Arts Commission.  His work is in the collections of Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, Promus Companies in Memphis, and in the corporate headquarters of Harrah’s in Memphis.

Sheri Fleck Rieth has taught printmaking, drawing, and book arts at Ole Miss since 1998 and is currently serving as chair of the Art Department.  Also a productive artist with many solo, two-person, and group exhibitions in her career, she has been a visiting artist lecturer and held residencies at several educational institutions in the South.  A winner of an Artists’ Fellowship Grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission, she has work in the collections of President and Mrs. Rawlings at Ole Miss, Texas Tech University Museum, and the Director of the Farrell Collection in Washington, D.C.  Rieth will offer a printmaking workshop to students in the Delta State Art Department on Sept. 30.

Herb Rieth is a painter and mixed media artist living in Knoxville, Tenn. He teaches drawing, painting, and design at Pellissippi State Community College.  He has shown in 24 states and numerous solo shows. He has recently taught drawing in Vienna, Austria and art history in Italy.
