By February 21, 2013General

The Delta Music Institute, a music industry studies program at Delta State University, will host former artist manager and concert promoter Paul Abraham on Thursday, February 26 at 6:00 p.m. in Studio B of the DMI on the campus of Delta State University for an interactive discussion as part of the DMI All Access series. DMI All Access is a series of open forums and lectures throughout the academic year featuring industry professionals from various areas of the music business.

A native of Leland, Abraham worked as road manager for rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd. He also did tour management with iconic groups The Marshall Tucker Band, Barefoot Servants, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Paul Rodgers and Bad Company. Crossing genres, Abraham worked with country artist Michael Peterson for one year and 12 years with Billy Ray Cyrus. In addition to artist management, he promoted multiple concerts in Mississippi and Colorado.

“For a Delta native with these unique music industry credits to speak for one of our All Access events is inspiring for our students in that they can see and talk with someone from the same region who developed their skills and made a living in the industry,” remarks Tricia Walker, DMI director.

This DMI All Access event is free and open to the public.

The Delta Music Institute is an independent center of study under the College of Arts & Sciences at Delta State University, offering a B.S. in Music Industry Studies degree. The focus of the DMI is to provide students with a broad and thorough education in the technological, creative, and business areas of the music and entertainment industry.
