Delta State University Alumni Association Holds Board Meeting

The Delta State University National Alumni Association Board of Directors recently held its annual winter meeting Friday, February 15 at the Hugh Ellis Walker Alumni-Foundation House. The Executive Committee met at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon was held at noon featuring guests from campus as well as Atmos Energy, who presented a check for $12,500 to the Delta State Foundation. The luncheon was followed by the full board meeting from 1-3 p.m.

Richard Myers, a 1991 Delta State graduate from Nashville, is currently serving as president of the board. Myers’ term began in October. A native of Cleveland, Myers is a Registered U.S. Patent Attorney, and he works for Stites and Harbison PLLC. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America (2013). Myers is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the American Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, Tennessee Intellectual Property Law Association, and Association of University Technology Managers. Myers is married to Stacy Marchant Myers, also a graduate of Delta State, and they have two children: Will (13) and Anna (10).

“I am very excited to serve as president for the National Alumni Association Board of Directors,” said Myers. “The Alumni Association is here to support the life of the university, and my goal as president is to help alumni stay connected to their alma mater.”

“The National Alumni Association Board of Directors represents our alumni base at the national level,” said Director of Alumni Affairs Jeffrey Farris. “This distinguished group is essential to the life of the association.”
