Delta State Students Win Music Competition

Several Delta State University Department of Music students successfully competed in the Mississippi Music Teachers Association Concerto Competition at Belhaven University in Jackson on February 23.

Senior Robyn Rouse, from Gulfport, was awarded First Place, and senior Jessica Egdorf, from Hernando, won Honorable Mention. They were accompanied by collaborative pianist Dr. Jung-Won Shin, Associate Professor of Music. Rouse and Egdorf are flute students of Dr. Shelley Collins, Associate Professor of Music. "MMTA’s collegiate competition is open to university students from across the state. I am proud of my students for working so hard to represent DSU at the state level," said Collins.

The Department of Music at Delta State University offers undergraduate degrees in liberal arts, music education, and music performance. The department accepts donations through the Delta State University Foundation to support scholarships, student events and projects, and purchase of instructional materials.
