Student Alumni Association collecting Christmas gifts

By December 6, 2012General

The Delta State University Student Alumni Association is hosting a toy drive to benefit area children. This is the first time the SAA has hosted this event, and the students are inviting alumni, faculty, staff, community members, and other students to donate.

“I’m so proud of our students for taking this initiative,” said Jordan Thomas, assistant alumni director. “I think it says a lot about their character that they’re willing to put others before themselves this Christmas.”

Unwrapped toys can be dropped off at the Hugh Ellis Walker Alumni House in “Santa’s Toy Chest.” The deadline for collecting toys is Friday, December 14 at noon.

I am excited for this opportunity to help the children in our area have a Merry Christmas,” said Amy Scott, vice president of SAA. “For those on campus and in the community who would like to participate but can’t make it by the Alumni House, contact the Alumni Association and we will make arrangements to pick up your donations.”

“The people at Delta State and in the Cleveland community are some of the most generous people on earth,” said Michael Oleis, president of SAA. “We hope to have a great turnout for this worthy cause, so that we can give the area children an awesome Christmas!”

The SAA will also be accepting monetary donations. For more information, contact the Alumni Association at 662-846-4660.
