Delta State to participate in Remembrance Day National Roll Call

By November 8, 2012General

For the second year, Delta State University will participate in the 2012 Remembrance Day National Roll Call to honor American servicemen and women.  Faculty, staff, and students will participate in the nationwide reading of over 6,598 names of American citizens who have given their lives in national service. Because Veterans Day falls on the weekend, reading of the names will begin on Wednesday, November 14, and end with a ceremony of remembrance on Friday, November 16, at noon.

The Remembrance Day National Roll Call is sponsored nationally by the Veterans Knowledge Community of NASPA Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education.  NASPA is a 12,000-member association for the advancement, health, and sustainability of the student affairs professionals. The Veterans Knowledge Community (VKC) mission is to advocate for best practices to help student veterans’ transition to college and succeed.

Delta State’s participation in the 2012 Remembrance Day National Roll Call is coordinated by The Madison Center, the university’s center for the study of democracy, human rights and the constitution.  The Center supports largely student-administered programs engaged with the curriculum and woven with the literature of political philosophy, law and policy.
