Shuman to perform recital at the Bologna Performing Arts Center

S. Michael Shuman, instructor at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, will perform piano and vocal works in the recital “A Series of Unfortunate Events” held at the Bologna Performing Arts Center Recital Hall on the Delta State University campus on Tuesday, September 4, at 7:30 p.m.  Shuman holds a Master of Music Degree in piano from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and Bachelor of Music Degree in piano and voice from Delta State University.  
 
Shuman will be joined by soprano Rebecca Rollene, senior at John Brown University, and pianist Dr. Karen Fosheim, Delta State University professor of music.  Shuman describes the musical selections as “an exploration of the serious and humorous aspects of unfortunate life events through literature for the solo piano and English selections for voice.” Selections include works by Franz Liszt, Leonard Bernstein, Gian Carlo Menotti, Henry Cowell, George Crumb, Libby Larsen, and and original work by Shuman.
