Delta State University Director of Career Services Christy Riddle was named the 2012 Outstanding Career Services Professional of the Year by the Mississippi Association of Colleges and Employers (MACE) at its 2012 summer conference in Tunica last week.  MACE is composed of career service professionals from two and four-year colleges and universities and employers who are involved in the recruitment of students for cooperative education and full-time career opportunities.

“I am so honored to receive this recognition. Working in DSU Career Services has been a great experience. Assisting our students and alumni in their career development is very rewarding,” stated Riddle.

The mission of MACE is to build a greater understanding and cooperation between colleges/universities and employers in their combined placement efforts, to foster professional development, and to promote high standards of ethical practices.

“Christy has done a fantastic job as Director of Career Services,” said Dr. Wayne Blansett, Vice President of Student Affairs.  “She is a consummate professional with tremendous initiative and drive, and she is very deserving of this recognition.”

Having served as Director of Career Services for the past five years, Riddle will be stepping into a new role as the Executive Director of the newly established Delta State University Student Success Center.  In her new role, Riddle will focus on advising, student retention, and academic support.

“DSU’s Student Success Center is an important step in our efforts to enhance the array of services and resources available to assist students as they pursue their academic goals,” said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ann Lotven. “Christy Riddle is a highly talented individual who has all of the required skill sets to succeed, and succeed with the greatest of outcomes, as the inaugural director of DSU’s Student Success Center. She will be partnering with faculty, staff, and other constituents to address the individual needs of our students.”
