Original cotton apparel designs completed by Delta State University students and faculty who participated in two spring cotton fiber and apparel design classes were shown at the recent annual meeting of Delta Council held at Delta State University.

The cotton project is funded by a grant from Cotton Incorporated. The grant was obtained by Dr. Jan Haynes (pictured), professor of fashion merchandising and chair of Family & Consumer Sciences in the College of Education. Participants in the initial class developed skills in utilizing natural plants and substances for cotton dyeing and printing, and were taught by Pat Brown, professor of art.  Participants in the second class, taught by Haynes, utilized their naturally dyed and printed fabrics to create original garment designs.
