Delta State University’s Fighting Okra is teaming up with the Cleveland Domino’s to show the rest of the world why the restaurant is recognized as “The Busiest Branch in the State of Mississippi” and ranks in the top 30 in sales and service in the U.S.  Owners Neal and Sonya Anderson have enlisted The Fighting Okra and Delta State’s Division of University Relations to develop a promotional presentation to be delivered at the Domino’s Worldwide Rally beginning May 13 in Las Vegas.

“We have a great relationship with Cleveland and Delta State University,” said Neal Anderson. “We really like the Fear the Okra Campaign and the commercials featuring The Fighting Okra.  We believe collaborating with the campaign offers a unique way to promote our store, Delta State, and the region to over 4,000 rally participants.”

“Over 60 percent of our team members are Delta State students,” said Sonya Anderson.  “We have always been active supporters of Delta State and have worked closely with various entities across the campus over the last few years.  I think this provides a great opportunity to promote our relationship.”

Domino’s is involved in many events at Delta State including move-in day, orientation, and athletic promotions. The restaurant feeds the residence assistants once every fall and spring and is an Okra Kard merchant through the Delta State’s Student Business Services.  Domino’s was recently recognized as a “Regional Champion” at Delta State’s Eighth Annual Community Recognition Awards and has provided community support by raising  more the $40,000 through its “Dough-Raisers” program.

“It is always rewarding to work with local businesses to promote Cleveland and Delta State University,” said Vice President for University Relations Dr. Michelle Roberts. “We are proud of the recognition Neal and Sonya’s Cleveland store is receiving, and we appreciate their willingness to help promote Delta State to their colleagues at the national level. “
