Delta State University’s Office of Graduate and Continuing Studies will be offering several new classes in late April.  Lifeguarding, Cooking with Cam and In Bloom will gear everyone up for spring and our hot summer months.

Lifeguard Certification
This certification class will teach life-saving techniques and qualify participants as certified lifeguards.  To be eligible for the class you must be at least 15 years old, be in sound health, attend all four days of certification, and be able to pass the preliminary swimming test.  The certification, taught by Ronnie Mayers, will be April 23 – 26 from 6 – 10 p.m. in the Delta State Aquatics Center.  The cost of the certification class is $150 plus an additional $35 for your certification card. Deadline to register is Friday, April 27.

Cooking with Cam: The Finale
Join Dr. Cam McMillen as she demonstrates how to prepare cool summer suppers that are sure to please every palate. Demonstration of food preparation, useful tips, and recipes are provided along with a delicious lunch. The class takes place Friday, April 20 at 12 p.m. in the Ada Swindle Mitchell Food Lab in Ewing Hall, and the cost is $20 per person and $35 for two.

In Bloom: Flower Arrangements
Spring is here and what better way to kick Mr. Winter out of your home, than to fill it with gorgeous fresh flower arrangements.  Join us for a fun night of learning and laughter as our instructor teaches you how to make small and medium fresh flower arrangements.  These simple techniques will have you decorating with fresh arrangements for all occasions.  Participants should bring fresh flowers and a vase/decorative piece to build their arrangement. The class will be held on Monday April 23 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. in Union Room 302A. The cost is $30 per person.

Early registration is required due to limited space in each class.  To register, or for more information on the courses listed, please contact Elizabeth Joel in the Office of Graduate and Continuing Studies at (662) 846-4871 or e-mail ejoel@deltastate.edu.
