The Delta Center for Culture and Learning at Delta State University recently provided an introduction to the Delta’s heritage for forty Southern women who are married to members of the World Presidents’ Organization (WPO).  The group came to the Delta through Oxford, visited the B. B. King Museum, and toured sites that were featured in the film The Help before going on to Tupelo.

Dr. Luther Brown, Director of the Delta Center met the group ‘s bus in Marks and escorted them to the Museum and on to the Alluvian.  Lisa Reed, who organized the tour, said. “This was the 7th trip to see each of the southern states we represent – Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi.   Everyone had a ball and learned so much."

The WPO is described as a global organization of more than 4,600 business leaders who are, or have been, chief executive officers of major companies.  Spanning more than 70 countries, WPO members combine corporate responsibility and personal public service to make significant contributions in their communities. Today, their ranks include diplomats, senior elected officials, and appointed government officials at the international, national, regional and local levels.
