An event featuring Lucas McCarty and the Trinity House of Prayer Choir will be held Monday, March 5th at 6 p.m. in the Jacob Conference Center at Delta State University.
Lucas is a native of Indianola, Miss. and battles cerebral palsy. He has inspired author Tom Pearson by overcoming adversity and joining the Trinity House of Prayer Choir to sing every Sunday. Pearson tells Lucas’s story in his book Year of our Lord: Faith, Hope, and Harmony in the Mississippi Delta.
The event is co-sponsored by Delta State’s Diversity Advisory Committee and the College of Education Special Education Program. There will be a slideshow of photographs by Langdon Clay and a performance by Lucas and the choir.
Books will be available for purchase, and Pearson will be present for signings. A portion of the proceeds go to outreach projects for the Trinity House of Prayer Church and a foundation for Lucas.
