Delta State University’s Art Department and the Division of Languages and Literature sponsors a First Tuesday program

Greg Alan BrowndervilleDelta State University’s Art Department and the Division of Languages and Literature will sponsor a First Tuesday program presented by Greg Alan Brownderville, on Tuesday, March 6 from 12:10-1:00 p.m. in  the Wright Art Gallery on campus.  

Brownderville teaches creative writing at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo.  He will read a selection of poems from his latest book Gust.

Brownderville has published a substantial body of work in journals and magazines such as the Oxford American and Measure. Primarily a poet, he is also a folklorist and a writer of fiction, creative nonfiction, and literary criticism. Brownderville was chosen for the 2007 Porter Prize, and is the youngest person ever to receive the award, given annually to a writer with an Arkansas connection. He was nominated on the strength of his book Deep Down in the Delta, a collection of his original poems interspersed with folktales he gathered in Arkansas.

Those attending may bring a brown bag lunch. Coffee will be provided.  Signed copies of his books will be available for purchase.
 
First Tuesday is sponsored by the Art Department & the First Tuesday Committee. Scheduled for the first Tuesday of each month during Fall & Spring semesters from 12:10-1:00 PM.  First Tuesday features lectures, readings, and presentations representing diverse perspectives in the arts and humanities.   The First Tuesday programs are free and open to the public.
