Delta State’s College of Business to award new scholarships

Dr. Billy C. MooreThe Delta State University College of Business will be awarding new scholarships at its annual awards banquet this spring. The Rock River Foundation in Charleston, Miss., an educational grant-matching program created by actor Morgan Freeman, awarded $15,000 to the College of Business to provide scholarships to junior and senior business majors. Dr. Billy C. Moore, dean of the College of Business said, “We are grateful to Dr. Cooper Johnson, chair of the College of Business’s Entrepreneurship in Business Technology Program, for submitting the proposal and leading the effort in obtaining these scholarships. It is rewarding when organizations such as The Rock River Foundation recognize the value of a Delta State College of Business degree. We appreciate their decision to assist our students as they take advantage of this opportunity.”
 
A scholarship committee will determine how to divide and award the funds. Students interested in applying for the scholarship can contact Dr. Cooper Johnson at 662-846-4192, bcjohnsn@deltastate.edu. The annual College of Business awards banquet will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the H. L. Nowell Union State Room.
