Willis inducted into Delta State University Student Hall of Fame

Carrie Beryl WillisCarrie Beryl Willis, a biology and chemistry graduate from Brandon, was inducted into the Delta State University Student Hall of Fame. Willis is a member of the Delta State University Honors College and the American Chemical Society. She is a member of Phi Eta Sigma, Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Delta Kappa, and was inducted into Alpha Epsilon Delta and Order of Omega.

Willis served the Student Government Association as attorney general, elections commissioner, and chairman of public relations and spirit and traditions. She is a member of Delta Delta Delta and held the offices of president, vice president for academic development, and vice president for chapter development.

Willis served as a recruitment counselor, was an Elliott Research Fellow, and received an academic and Davidson Scholarship.  She is a President’s and Dean’s List Scholar and was selected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. She is the daughter of Linda and David Powe.

The Hall of Fame was begun in 1972 to recognize outstanding students. It is the single highest honor bestowed upon any Delta State University student based on outstanding accomplishments in all phases of college life. A maximum of eight students comprise the Student Hall of Fame each year. The selection is made by a committee of students, faculty, and staff appointed by university deans and vice-presidents.

The annual Hall of Fame Banquet and induction is sponsored by the Student Alumni Association and the Student Government Association.
